The Whole Whale Fellowship Program is designed to prepare recent graduates, young professionals, or those seeking a new career path for full-time employment in the nonprofit and social impact sector by providing hands-on experience and skill-building with digital marketing. Fellows have the opportunity to grow their skills in digital marketing, advertising, and analytics while supporting both internal and client projects. Our fellowships are a 4-month commitment, and fellows are compensated with a weekly stipend. We’d like to consider candidates who have an interest in possibly joining our team full-time.

Account Manager (Full-Time)

Whole Whale seeks an Account Manager to support our growing account strategy team. The ideal candidate has experience in client and/or partner relationship management, social impact, and a deep interest and understanding of digital marketing and/or advertising.

  • This is a full-time staff position offered at the Manager level. As part of our DEIB Commitment, Whole Whale has transparent salary bands by level to ensure fair compensation across our team. The salary band for this role at the Manager level is $54,000 – $66,000. Our total compensation package includes competitive benefits such as 401k company match, employee profit-share, student loan reimbursement, unlimited PTO, and more.
  • This role has an option to be Fully Remote.  

Responsibilities 

Client Account Management 

  • Own the client journey.  Serve as the main point of contact for 3-5 nonprofit clients; lead client check-ins, manage expectations, provide world-class support, be the primary client liaison and lead any contract revision or renewal processes
  • Speak the language of the client. Develop a 30K foot view for clients to best leverage Whole Whale’s digital marketing capabilities to help them progress towards their impact goals. Turn data into stories so clients can understand the journey
  • Lead project management for assigned clients; define project objectives, set timelines, lead client meetings and serve as the client’s main point of contact for communications with Whole Whale.  
  • Manage client teams to achieve digital impact goals. Collaborate with internal team members to delegate work relevant to their expertise to meet project milestones and deadlines; support service-area experts in completing these distinct deliverables while still driving the overarching strategic vision for the client team. 
  • Be the client’s voice within Whole Whale. Find opportunities to increase service levels, exceed expectations, remove barriers, and increase their digital impact 
  • Take the stage! You will lead trainings, presentations, and other interactive topics related to digital impact measurement, fundraising efforts, marketing, and other areas of expertise
  • Develop a high-level strategy. Lead impact mapping and vision for how our nonprofit clients can best leverage all facets of their digital marketing to further their impact goals 
  • Take ownership of the quality of deliverables by understanding that each touch point with a client is a fresh opportunity to impress and delight

Team Management & Thought Leadership

  • Stay up to date on new digital marketing opportunities and tools to support client success and keep the team informed
  • Create recommendations and training documents for clients and partners, including speaking and presenting at WWU Live webinars and conferences
  • Write and edit articles and guides on relevant nonprofit issues and opportunities that interest you
  • Be a positive, forward-thinking leader on the team, including managing 1-2 full or part-time employees as needed 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing client or partner relationships
  • 3+ years of professional experience, especially in roles involving nonprofit digital marketing and/or project management with a high bar for rigor, quality, and integrity
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital marketing and/or advertising tactics and key platforms
  • Comfortable moving seamlessly from big-picture strategy to supporting on tactical implementation when needed
  • Creative problem-solver driven by a need to look to the data, iterate, think outside the box, and try new things to deliver even better results
  • Great attention to detail and organizational skills –  able to successfully and independently manage multiple projects at once
  • Experience with digital project management tools preferred – Whole Whale uses tools including Slack, Asana, and Confluence to manage internal communications and workflows.

Senior SEO Associate (Full Time)

Whole Whale is looking for a Senior SEO Associate to support our growing SEO & Content Marketing team. The ideal candidate has a deep interest in and experience with SEO and digital content best practices, and a commitment to social impact work.

  • This is a full-time staff position offered at the Senior Associate level. As part of our DEIB Commitment, Whole Whale has transparent salary bands by level to ensure fair compensation across our team. The salary range for this role at the Senior Associate level is $48,000 – $56,000. Our total compensation package also includes competitive benefits such as 401k company match, employee profit-share, student loan reimbursement, unlimited PTO, and more.
  • This role has an option to be Fully Remote. In non-Covid times, Whole Whale is based in Brooklyn, NY.

Responsibilities

Search Engine Optimization & Content Marketing

  • Perform SEO keyword research and content modeling for WW and our clients
  • Create and present data-driven content marketing strategies for client implementation, including outlining editorial calendars to drive content production
  • Find insights in Organic traffic using Google Analytics (Universal Analytics and GA4) and other available data
  • Audit client websites for technical SEO elements and provide recommendations for addressing high-priority errors and issues
  • Create and present information and strategies for improving client structured data and search snippet performance; implement schema on client websites
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in on-page and off-page SEO best practices and share learnings with the WW Content/SEO teams

,Digital Strategist (Full Time Senior Associate)

Whole Whale seeks a dynamic Digital Strategist to play a key role working directly with the President and CEO. We seek a versatile and creative candidate with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting. Must be detail-oriented and passionate about leveraging digital tools for social impact. Main tasks will include building relationships with new clients and amplifying internal and client marketing efforts online.

  • This is a full-time staff position offered at the Senior Associate level. As part of our DEIB Commitment, Whole Whale has transparent salary bands by level to ensure fair compensation across our team. The salary range for this role at the Senior Associate level is $50,000 – $56,000.
  • Our total compensation package includes competitive benefits such as 401k company match, employee profit-share, student loan reimbursement, unlimited PTO, and more.
  • This role has an option to be Fully Remote. 

Responsibilities for this position are expected to include:

Partnerships & Business Development

  • Manage inbound lead communications and communicate follow-up actions with prospective client contacts
  • Draft new business proposals, sales pitches, presentations, reference materials, timelines and other documents as necessary
  • Develop expertise in agency product and service offerings and proactively build new client relationships with a strong market fit
  • Support the design and development of proprietary nonprofit AI tools and products

Agency Online Marketing

  • Lead online marketing efforts for the agency, including managing organic social media platforms and email marketing campaigns
  • Develop and publish online content, such as website articles and mobile video content
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating webinars, learning cohorts, and other training programs for the broader nonprofit community, including drafting training materials
  • Manage customer support inquiries for products such as CauseWriter.ai, Inclusivity Tool, Nonprofit Newsfeed, Nonprofit.ist, WWU, etc.

Client Marketing Support

  • Support and lead impactful client digital marketing efforts as assigned, and communicate the impact of this work directly to clients; this could include:
    • Managing client website behavior analytics, using tools like Microsoft Clarity
    • Conducting A/B testing for client website elements or pop-ups
    • Developing client donor or website user personas
    • Reporting and optimizing organic social media efforts
    • Managing and improving client email marketing accounts, including setting up new customer segments or building contact automations
    • Building and optimizing client advertising campaigns
    • Drafting compelling online marketing content for nonprofit clients, including first-draft articles, emails, social media posts, and ad copy

Full-Time Whaler Benefits

Every full-time hire undergoes a three-month “swim test” but is eligible to enroll in core benefits like health, vision, and dental care right away. Base salary for entry-level roles starts at $45k.

Whole Whale’s full awesome benefits for full-time employees include: 

  • Annual profit share: A percentage of profits are shared as a 401k distribution to full-time employees who qualify. This has historically equated to approximately 10% of base salary.
  • 100% Paid Health, vision, dental care: Base plan for Health, vision, and dental premiums fully covered in one option along with additional plans to meet your needs.
  • Unlimited PTO: Minimum of 10 vacation or sick days must be taken each year. We count work getting done – not working days. 
  • Technology budget: New employees get a tech setup budget for a computer and equipment as needed. Presently, Whole Whale is also providing extra equipment to facilitate work-from-home productivity.
  • Learning budget: $750 a year to spend on approved educational activities, books, classes, or conferences. We’re serious about learning. 
  • Wellness budget: $400 a year to spend on enhancing your physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Cell phone: Whole Whale covers phone costs up to $700/year for any employees who choose to join the company Verizon phone plan. 
  • 401k with 4% company match: Whole Whale matches up to 4% of salary contribution.
  • Student loan assistance: After 1 year, whalers can receive up to $600/yr ($50 off their monthly payments) to support paying off their student loans (up to $1800/yr after 3+ yrs).
  • Commission: Whalers can earn a 5% commission fee up to $5,000 for any new business they generate.
  • Work abroad month: After 2.5 years, full-time employees have the opportunity to work abroad for up to one month. Includes a reduced 4-day work week and up to $2,500 towards the trip cost (reputable remote work partners provided).
  • Paid parental leave: New parents can take up to 12 weeks of paid leave to be with their new child. After that, up to 3 months of unpaid leave or flexible time can be arranged.
  • In-office perks when we reopen: WW is currently fully remote but is planning on reopening a Brooklyn office in 2022.
    • Staff retreat: Once a year the team goes on a staff retreat for team-building and goal-setting activities. The Poconos and upstate NY have been popular destinations.
